drugstore cowboy(1989)was the debut movie of director Gus Van Sant. it is a realistic road movie about a drug addict, his 'family', and their inevitable decline into crime.starring matt dillon,kelly lynch and heather graham ,this is one of the better movies about drug abuses i have seen although not on the same pedestal as REQUIEM FOR A DREAM or TRAINSPOTTING.the best scenes of the movie are those which show dillon bartering one drug for another.good debut movie for Sant.after this he made some memorable flicks like TO DIE FOR,GOOD WILL HUNTING and ELEPHANT.great acting by the support cast and good direction which makes you feel that the movie was shot in 1970s.
